April 9, April 16, and April 21.

I added the three open-to-the-public district budget meetings to the Calendar on the "Performance Schedule" page. The topic of this week's after-school staff meeting was the budget of the upcoming year. Forest Grove is facing some large budget cuts for the upcoming biennial. I'm not sure if the actual dollar amounts are a matter of public record at this point, so I'll refrain from disclosing them.

Ms. Boles and I talked after the meeting about what it would mean for the district. She told me that last time the district faced cuts like this, which was back in '02-'03, the community's input into the budget was extremely heartening and helpful. My understanding is that some of the athletic programs, in particular, got a lot of community support and ended up being saved or supported because the community banded together and worked things out. Everything will work out this year, too, because things do that...they work out. I still think it will be important to be involved in the decision-making process.

Please mark the dates in your calendar, and if you have the time open, I'd really encourage attending. I'm going to try to make it if I can. The location is different each time. You can look either on the "Performance Schedule" page or find them on the FGSD website, which is www.fgsd.k12.or.us.

I've added a lot! There are more links on the Links page, I have added my bookmarks using del.icio.us, the Glossary has been updated, and there's been in general a lot done to this site!

I'm thinking about making a page for choral jokes and perhaps putting up a crash-course in Music History, but we shall see what time allows and what will be practical and useful. Email with questions or comments, and enjoy the changes!

My goal is to blog at least once a week about either a new piece I've heard, something musical coming up in the community or something along those lines. Check back!!

Welcome! This blog is going to have information about what is happening in choir, as well as links to other sites and online resources so that you can learn as much about our music and the art of singing as you can.

Any cool sites I find I'll put here and on the Links page--check back often to keep track of what is happening in rehearsal!

Again, welcome!
